Award variations
Extensions
An extension to scholarship is defined as an increase in time or cost of the scholarship. Apart from the Honours one year extension, only one extension up to six months will be approved.
An extension to the scholarship will only be considered when ALL avenues are pursued to ensure students complete their course on time. An extension of time requires the International Sponsored Students Unit (ISSU) to submit an application for extension to the home country for approval. This process takes one month.
Legitimate reasons may include unforseen and exceptional circumstances that are beyond the control of the student and the institution. This does not include health issues, family matters or a death in the family as these are more appropriately dealt with as suspensions.

Suspension
Suspensions can be for no longer than 12 months. For any award variation the student must meet with the ISSU as soon as possible.
Transfer
The ISSU must apply to AusAID for a transfer of course. Transfers are only considered if it becomes apparent that the student will not be able to pass or complete the nominated course due to poor grades or academic ability.
