Responsibilities
All key stakeholders have responsibilities to the AusAID scholarship program. The stakeholders are the students, International Sponsored Students Unit (ISSU) and the Schools at Curtin University of Technology. The prime objective of the program is to ensure that the students successfully complete their award within the award period as stated on their Letter of Offer and in their AusAID contract. Curtin will endeavour to support the student throughout their time at the University to ensure that the time spent is enjoyable, fulfilling and successful.
Student Responsibilities
- To remain a full time student, attend class regularly and satisfy all course requirements.
- Remain in the chosen course and not transfer between courses without written approval from AusAID.
- Be aware that your examination results and progress will be monitored.
- Follow the conditions of your student visa and advise the ISSU of any application to change your visa.
- Keep Curtin informed of your address and contact details at all times.
- Advice ISSU of any changes to your bank account.
- Ensure all debts are paid prior to returning home.
- Return home within 14 days after the examination results are published for coursework students or after thesis submission for research students.
- Return home at the end of the scholarship for a period of two years.
Academic Responsibilities
- Assess each application and ensure the best course is offered according to the student's application details.
- Provide additional course information when requested by the student.
- Indicate the need for bridging or special courses that are required prior to commencement of the course.
- At the time of offer list any additional costs such as fieldwork, first aid training, etc.
- Monitor student's academic progress to ensure student's completion within the award period.
- Liaise with the ISSU if any situations arise which affect academic progress.
- Supervisors of research students need to ensure that no delays occur to the student's progress. For example, if there is equipment failure, supervisor absence or change of supervisor then it may be deemed by AusAID for the Schools/Divisions to contribute to the financial cost of an extension to the students' award.
ISSU Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the financial and administrative details of the AusAID contracts.
- Provide support for students in relation to all areas of health, welfare and cultural adjustment.
- Coordinate pre-departure, arrival, briefing sessions, Introductory Academic Program, follow up sessions, tutorial assistance, and academic monitoring.
- Implement the ISSU continuous improvement plan.
- Administer all variations to awards including extensions, suspensions, terminations and transfers.
- Provide reports to AusAID in accordance with the contracts.
- Liaise with key stakeholders being AusAID Canberra, Scholarship posts, managing contractors and AusAID students.
